Rockin’ Rebel is one of the nine MAC Girls eyeshadow palettes released by MAC Cosmetics since last summer. Each palette has its own identity and I chose to purchase the Rockin’ Rebel one because I thought it would be an interesting contrast to my unhealthy collection of warm neutral palettes. It retails for 39,50 EUR/US$ and has 8 eyeshadows and a highlighter. There are 4 mattes and 4 shimmers.
Admittedly, despite the overall quality, these are not the easiest colours to work with and it took me a few playing sessions to form an opinion on Rockin’ Rebel. Two of the shadows did not perform as I’d expected: the light pinkish shimmer (second one in the picture) and the green one, which needed a bit of Fix Plus to really pop. I particularly enjoyed the greyish taupe, the dark blue and the three other shimmers. The highlighter is B.L.I.N.D.I.N.G.
Overall, I’d say this is a palette that I’m going to have to get the hang of before I can thoroughly enjoy it and I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who’s looking for something quick and easy. Some of the other MAC Girls palettes seem more “accessible” to the warm neutral mind and I might indulge in one of them one of these days.
Edit: three months later, I have to admit that I haven’t reached for this palette as much as I thought I would. I still think the colours are beautiful but I lack inspiration and motivation to make them work. Some palettes just appeal to you and immediately work out, while others look like a lot of work.

Have you bought any of these palettes? What did you think? Would you have chosen Rockin’ Rebel too?
