MAC Pro Longwear concealer review

Sharing is caring!

I believe that everyone has a purpose in life and I know that mine is to find the best concealer on earth. I’ve tried DOZENS of them, especially the most hyped concealers on YouTube and in the blogging community. See my review of the Revolution Beauty concealer (supposedly a dupe for Tarte Shape Tape).

MAC pro longwear concealer

The positives

Application: This MAC Pro Longwear concealer is really lightweight and easy to blend, with a brush or beauty sponge. I personally apply the smallest amount, spread it and blend it with a concealer brush, and then perfect the application with a Beauty Blender. Keep in mind that a little goes a long way.

Coverage: it does live up to expectations. It’s full coverage and will cover dark circles and blemishes without looking cakey and without creasing.

Staying power: excellent, I haven’t worn it for 15 hours straight yet, but I’ve tested it for 8 hours several times and it didn’t move.

The negatives

Scent: it is fragrance free, but it has a slight smell of alcohol.

The pump: it dispenses way too much product (probably twice the amount needed, as far as I’m concerned) and a lot of it goes to waste. I know that I’m going to run out much more quickly than I would if I could control the amount of product that comes out.

The first picture shows how much is dispensed and the second one show how much I need under one eye.

My final thoughts on MAC Pro Longwear concealer

This is, by far, the best concealer that I’ve tried and I already know that I’ll repurchase as soon as it runs out (soon, because of the pump).

It doesn’t leave my under eye area dry or cakey looking or greasy and creasing (I’ve experienced all of these with other concealers) and it does a good job of covering and staying on all day/night.

Thanks for the thorough review. I haven’t tried any of MAC’s face products yet but that concealer sounds amazing minus the smell. lol

Thanks for your comment. It’s a good brand to try.

Great review! Would love to see where it sits in rank compared to others. Definitely more intrigued to have a try.

There are still a few that are considered great concealers which I haven’t tried. I need more money.

This is such a detailed review! I haven’t tried this concealer but it loosk great! The pump is really annoying though x

omg after a few weeks of using it, I cannot highlight enough how irritating it is. Thanks for your comment. xxxxx

Is there a concealer out there for someone who has the skin of a seasoned alcoholic? Not that I am one, might I add. I’ve just been blessed with the skin of one.

      • June 15, 2018 / 1:56 pm

I’ve been told that’s some of the problem but I’m out in all weather’s so broken veins and enlarged pores too. I’m a stunner.

        • June 15, 2018 / 2:05 pm

Same here. I don’t know where you live but SPF will help 🤓

          • June 15, 2018 / 2:17 pm

Ok thanks. I live in the UK so it’s not often very sunny but I know the rays still get through when it’s cloudy. I’ll bear that in mind.

          • June 15, 2018 / 2:29 pm

That probably also explains the fair complexion with pink undertones 😉

  5. June 13, 2018 / 10:55 pm

Loved your review…and we definitely want to try this out

    • June 13, 2018 / 11:07 pm

Thanks for your comment. I highly recommend it.

Oo.. does Mac Pro longwear concealer actually contain alcohol then? I like maybelline’s eraser eye… but yeah, it can feel cakey sometimes unless you don’t apply too much.

  7. June 13, 2018 / 12:31 am

I love MAC products but I haven’t tried this one – will check this one out.

    • June 13, 2018 / 12:32 am

It’s probably one of their best products!

  8. June 12, 2018 / 5:52 pm

Great review. I think I’m always on the quest for a great concealer. I’m currently using the Tarte Shape Tape – been using it for about 3 months and it really does live up to all the hype! Worth the investment! I have under eye dark circles that many concealers are just too light weight for and this has worked great 🙌🏽💛

    • June 12, 2018 / 5:55 pm

I wish I could use it but it isn’t sold in Europe😭

      • June 12, 2018 / 5:56 pm

Ohhh no! How about ordering it online?! But then maybe the cost of shipment would be insanely expensive. 🤦🏽‍♀️

          • June 12, 2018 / 7:15 pm

Placed a $50 order on Colourpop.com last month. Shipping was free for orders over $50, but when the parcel got to Europe, I had to pay almost $40 of custom taxes.

          • June 12, 2018 / 7:55 pm

Yeah and a a real pity cause the coloupop eyeshadows are bomb. I’m dying to order more.

          • June 12, 2018 / 8:15 pm

I’ve never tried their makeup. Maybe if you have someone in the states, you can get it through them. Perhaps the shipping would be less. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’ve just heard about them through YouTube reviews.

          • June 12, 2018 / 8:28 pm

They’re really good value. They are available on Amazon UK but the prices are x2 or x3 (meaning you pay for duty anyways)

          • June 12, 2018 / 8:50 pm

Ugh! No! I always thought Amazons prices were better than retail stores and websites. 😣

          • June 12, 2018 / 8:51 pm

There’s no solution to my first world problem 😉

          • June 12, 2018 / 8:20 pm

Or trying to purchase it through Amazon.uk

  9. June 12, 2018 / 5:46 pm

I’ve been looking for a new concealer and this one sounds great! I’ll be next on my list to try 🙂

    • June 12, 2018 / 5:50 pm

Hopefully you’ll write a review, too!

Have you tried the Kat Von D lock it concealer? I love it!

    • June 12, 2018 / 4:05 pm

Nope! I’ve also been told to try out her tattoo liner!

        June 12, 2018 / 4:13 pm

I heard that was amazing too!

        • June 12, 2018 / 5:46 pm

I think if my makeup wish list was on paper, it’d go around the planet twice.

Mine too 😂 it’s a struggle! I just joined boxycharm too!

    • June 12, 2018 / 5:48 pm

I haven’t tried that either! But have heard great reviews on that.

      • Melissa Rivera
        June 12, 2018 / 5:49 pm

It’s amazing! I have deep under eye circles and I use the urban decay peach color corrector and then the Kat Von D! It’s a great combo no creasing and stays in place! (I have super oily skin)

        • June 12, 2018 / 5:54 pm

I’m the opposite, I have dry skin. But my under eye circles are a hot mess! I’ll definitely have to try this combo. I’m currently using the Tarte Shape Tape and so far so good! Kat Von D seems to have great products. Gotta give them a chance! Thank you for the recommendation 😊💛

            June 13, 2018 / 3:37 am

Oh I tried shape tape too! The foundation and the concealer! The concealer was good too!

          • June 13, 2018 / 3:42 am

Yes, I apply the concealer with my beauty blender – damp. So, far it’s been great! It’s I have to try the foundation – didn’t know if it would be as good as the Shape Tape Concealer! 🙌🏽😊 I find it difficulty to find concealers and foundations that are good on dry skin – that’s me! 🙄

          • Melissa Rivera
            June 13, 2018 / 1:21 pm

Oh I never tried it with a damp beauty blender, I’ll give that a shot. Shape Tape has a hydrating foundation, a few of my friends tired that one and loved it. It’s not heavy either! 😁

          • June 13, 2018 / 11:53 pm

Yes, either run the beauty blender under water and squeeze the excess water out or spray some primer water on it. I spray the Smashbox photo finish primer water on my beauty blender, works great! Spray it as you continue to apply your concealer. And after I’ve done my makeup, I’ll spray it again around my face. Allows the makeup to last! 🙌🏽

Highly recommend it. And god knows I’m picky.

        • June 12, 2018 / 2:18 pm

I can be relaxed about certain products, but when it comes to concealer I’m anal 🙂
