Guest Post: Beauty Interview with Anjhanee

Anjhaneè is 24 and lives in North Carolina (although she was born in South Carolina), she’s a vegetarian, she likes holidays and hates water bugs and odd numbers. I think that, as far as makeup goes, we have a lot in common and I love reading her blog because the products she reviews are exactly the products I’ve bought/reviewed or am planning to buy.

Glowing to the gods

When did you start wearing makeup?

I started really wearing makeup in middle school, around 7th grade I believe. The idea of being able to match my eyeshadow, and lip products with my outfits was so much fun! I’ve always thought of makeup as a form or self-expression. Makeup can really tell you so much about a person, before you even exchange words with them. We all have different preferences and styles when it comes to makeup, but that’s what makes the beauty world so diverse!

Who taught you how to apply makeup?

Honestly, YouTube. I use to spend hours watching Makeup Tutorials, and then I’d attempt to mimic those techniques on myself! There was a lot of trial and error involved, but gradually I acquired a few skills and discovered what methods worked best for me. Even now I’ll go on YouTube, and check out tutorials for a little inspiration. The beauty would is constantly evolving, and social media is such a great tool to help you stay in the know.

Favourite high-end brand?

My favorite high-end brand would definitely have to be, Charlotte Tilbury. The brands packaging is always incredibly chic, and the products that I have had the pleasure of trying were amazing! I don’t mind paying a little more if the quality is worth it, and Charlotte Tilbury is one of those brands that is definitely worth the occasional splurge!

What type of makeup products do you buy the most of?

Definitely, lip products. I honestly feel that you can never own too many lip products! There are so many different shades, and finishes to choose from. On the days when my overall makeup look is pretty basic, adding a nice lip color can make all the difference!

Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely?

Oh, how I wish that I could spend freely sometimes! I definitely have a beauty budget, and use my bill book to assist me with keeping track of when exactly I can splurge! Would it be nice to be able to pick up every new release? Absolutely. But, I have responsibilities and I always ensure that those are met before I go out and spend on beauty products. Having the latest products won’t mean much if I don’t have a home to actually store it all in. Gotta’ pay those bills.

Is there a brand you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?

I’ve been eyeing Bobbi Brown Cosmetics for awhile, but I’ve yet to give the brand a try. They have a wonderful selection, and I’ve heard such positive reviews! Hopefully soon I’ll be able to get my hands on some of their products!

As a blogger, is there a brand you’d love to work with?

Honestly, there are so many brands that I’d be honored to work with! For me it’s all about working with brands that I wholeheartedly believe in, who believe in me just the same. I would never want to work with a brand that I personally am not a fan of, or whose products I myself don’t even use. Consumers deserve genuine feedback, and honest opinions. I wouldn’t feel right standing behind a product or brand, just for a paycheck. You can always tell the difference between an opinion that is genuine, and one that’s been bought.

OMG yes, you need to try out Bobbi Brown, especially their mascara!!!!
I love how organised and grounded she is with her purchases, girl, visit the UK one day and teach me your ways. 😞
Her highlight is popping! I tried doing makeup on my eyes like that once but I ended up looking like a murderous cat sadly. 🙂

This was a lovely interview! Anjhaneè is one of my favorite bloggers and I had no idea she is from the U.S. <3 I too think a great lip completes the face, even if you decide to wear a basic look, which is practically me all the time. She is so sweet and I'm so glad you made time to interview her <3
